Herbal medicine for psoriasis and their molecular targets: A systematic review

Psoriasis is an incurable, chronic, recurrent immune-mediated in?ammatory dermatosis characterized by epidermal hyperplasia and excessive in?ltration of cells into the dermis neovascularization. The study aimed to provide a systematic review on in vitro, vivo, clinical studies support traditional uses herbal medicine for psoriasis treatment.  was performed combining three databases, that is, PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, using search terms “Psoriasis” AND “Herbal medicine” AND/OR “Traditional medicine.”  Full-text articles included after screening were further evaluated applying predefined eligibility criteria. One hundred twenty research analysis. involve 94 herbs used as single extract (n=58 plants) or isolated compounds (n=54 compounds) compositions formulas (n=24 formulas). Most related plants recipes Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) (63 207 plants). Research targeting inflammatory proliferative processes disease pathogenesis, development, progression has been extensive area. antipsoriasis activity most mainly through effects molecules signaling pathways immune (T-cells, dendritic cells, monocytes, neutrophils, macrophages), well apoptotic pathways.
